All Viasat customers will receive a NEW state-of-the-art Viasat satellite Dish, which is about 30-inches in diameter by 28 inches — approximately the same size as a satellite TV dish. The Viasat Dish sends & receives transmissions, which provides the connection between your modem and Viasat’s satellite in space.
Viasat’s redesigned dish includes a different style of TRIA, which is the unit at the end of the dish’s arm, and is the primary radio connection to the satellite. By moving some of the functions that used to be inside the modem, Viasat’s reimagined dish design makes it easier for a technician to service your equipment without having to enter your home. The larger TRIA also contains the advanced electronics to support the higher speeds offered with the newer ViaSat-2 plans.
Professional Satellite Dish Installation
Your Viasat Dish will be delivered and professionally installed by an authorized-Viasat technician. Your installer will help you choose the best location to mount the dish, typically on the roof or the side of your home, and connect the dish to the Viasat Gateway Modem inside your home via a coaxial cable. We also include a mounting bracket and TRIA assembly.
Our technicians are specially trained to find the best placement for your satellite dish and securely mount it to your home. Occasionally, secure pole mounts are used. When standard installation options don’t give you the best connection, a non-standard option may be recommended to ensure a strong, clear connection to our satellite for the best quality and fastest Internet service possible. Your Viasat satellite dish and modem installation usually takes 2-3 hours.
Viasat Satellite Dish Installation Options
Your Viasat professional installer will perform all the necessary system set up for you, including standard and non-standard installations to ensure you receive the fastest satellite internet speeds possible. Viasat’s certified technicians are specially trained to find the best placement for your satellite dish and securely attach it to your home. The Viasat satellite mini-dish is about 30 inches and can be mounted on the side of your home, the roof or on a secure pole mount. If you rent your house, you will need to make sure you have your landlord’s permission before installation. If your installation requires a non-standard installation, there will be an additional charge. However, your installer will discuss your options and any extra fees with you first, allowing you to decide whether or not you wish to proceed with any additional installation fees and services.
