Gateway:
The Viasat network includes a number of gateways on the ground around the U.S. The gateways connect the satellite to the internet. Each gateway has a large antenna that transmits the internet signal from the ground to the ViaSat satellite and back again.
Geosynchronous Orbit:
Often referred to as a geosynchronous equatorial orbit (GEO), this is a circular geosynchronous orbit 22,236 miles (35,786 km) above the Earth occupied by ViaSat and other communications satellites. In this orbit, objects match the rotation of the Earth, and thus appear to stay in the same place. This is what allows communications satellites to deliver service to stationary antennas on the ground.
GIF:
Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) is a compressed image file format that uses a compression formula. GIFs are based on indexed colors, which is a palette of at most 256 colors. This helps greatly reduce their file size. These compressed image files can be quickly transmitted over a network or the internet, which is why you often see them on web pages. GIF files are ideal for small icons and animated images, but they lack the color range to be used for high-quality photos.
Gigabyte:
A gigabyte is 2 to the 30th power or 1,073,741,824 bytes. It can be estimated as 10 to the 9th power, or one billion (1,000,000,000) bytes. A gigabyte is 1,024 megabytes and precedes the terabyte unit of measurement. Hard drive sizes are typically measured in gigabytes, such as a 160GB or 250GB drive. The term gigabyte is often often abbreviated as simply a “gig” in speech.
Gmail:
A free, advertising-supported email service developed by Google and part of G-Suite. Gmail is available across all your devices including Android, iOS and desktop devices. Users can access Gmail online via the web or mobile app. Gmail provides 15 GB of storage and uses 3rd-party programs that synchronize email content through POP or IMAP protocols and features include a Google Apps sidebar, confidential mode with self-destructing emails, desktop notifications, hover-activated trash & snooze options, integrated search, offline support, smart compose & smart reply, which can suggest replies and autocomplete sentences, spam blockers, and an undo send option. You can use your Google account username & password to create and sign in to Gmail.

A for-profit online crowd-funding platform that allows people to raise money for events ranging from life events such as celebrations and graduations to challenging circumstances like accidents and illnesses. This is a free service available to use via the internet at the Official GoFundMe.com website or as a mobile app.

Google is a U.S. tech company that began as a search engine research project. While conventional search engines ranked results by counting how many times the search terms appeared on a webpage, was designed to provide a better system that analyzed the PageRank relationships among websites. The new Google Search PageRank technology determined a website’s relevance by the number of webpages and the importance of those pages that linked back to the original website.

Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite navigation system used to determine ground position and velocity (location, speed & direction). Though it was created and originally used by the U.S. military, GPS is now available to the general public world wide.
