Q: How does it compare to other browsers?
A: The Viasat Browser features align competitively with other leading browsers, but provides faster speeds on the Viasat internet network system and robust security and privacy features. Thanks to its innovative evolving technology, it is able to load web pages faster than other competitors. In addition, it has an integrated ad-blocker that helps protect you by blocking most malware and internet trackers. Plus, you get the content you love without unnecessary clutter or extra data consumption.

Q: What platforms are the Viasat Browser available for?
A: Currently, the Viasat Browser is available for Windows and macOS computers as well as Android and iOS systems.
Q: How do I make Viasat Browser my default browser?
A: For desktop (Windows and macOS) use. Open the Viasat Browserr. Click on the three-dotted menu in the top right hand corner. Select “Settings”, then scroll to the bottom and click the button that says “Make Viasat Browser the default browser.” For Android use, tap the “Settings” icon (that looks like a gear), then tap on “Apps & notifications”. Tap “Advanced”. Tap “Default apps”. Tap “Browser app”, then tap the list entry for Viasat Browser. Press the “Home” button to return to the home screen. For iOS use, unfortunately, iOS currently does not allow users to change the default browser.
Q: What do I do if the Viasat Browser doesn’t seem faster?
A: For testing purposes, the Viasat Browser will sometimes randomly turn off some optimizations to place the browser in a Chromium-like mode in order to test Chromium performance versus Viasat Browser performance. To check if your browser is running in Chromium-like mode, go to viasat://version/ and check if the word “Chromiumlike” appears in the command line. If it does, you can restore Viasat Browser optimization by restarting your browser.
Q: What is uBlock Origin?
A: The uBlock Origin is a Viasat Browser free extension (appearing as the red shield in the right hand corner of the browser). This is used by the Viasat Browser to keep annoying ads and pop-ups from cluttering web pages and ruining your web browsing experience. uBlock also protects you from potential malware hidden in malicious ads and helps secure your privacy by blocking internet trackers. In addition, this helps reduce your data consumption by not loading unnecessary and unwanted content. uBlock Origin is only available on desktop Viasat Browser, but mobile versions come with their own built-in ad-blocker.
Q: While using the Viasat Browser, some sites are asking me to turn off my ad blocker. What should I do?
A: You can exempt sites from uBlock Origin by clicking on the red shield icon next to the address bar and then clicking the blue power button so it becomes grey. This will allow ads to load on that particular site, however, you will continue to get uBlock Origin’s protection on other sites.
Q: Why can’t I reach a site with Viasat Browser, but I can reach it with another browser?
A: When using the Windows and macOS Desktop uBlock Origin, the built in ad blocker might be the issue, so try disabling it for that page. If that doesn’t work, try clearing your browser cache and cookies “from the beginning of time” by clicking on the menu in the right hand corner, navigating to history, and then clicking the “Clear browsing data” button.
Q: My antivirus is trying to block the Viasat Browser! What should I do?
A: For programs that update regularly, like a web browser, antivirus programs can sometimes block updates initially, despite the fact that they are legitimate programs. If your antivirus program displays an alert for Viasat Browser, you will need to unblock the browser in your antivirus program’s settings. If you aren’t sure how to do this, try Googling your antivirus program’s name and “allow a blocked program.”
